Perhaps, if
Grammar Girl
were a part of EVERYONE'S daily lessons,
I would not be so neurotic when I read websites and blogs.
I like English as it is taught.
I like English as it is spoken (correctly).
I abhor English as yahoos write it and speak it with, no regard to
English.

I was taught to use a masculine pronoun whever it could refer to a boy or a girl.
And furthermore, Grammer is one of your parents' mothers. Grammar is some unknown way you can put words together.
And I STILL adhere to that rule:
If one should come up with a more succinct rule, by golly, he should get on the bandwagon and change our 1960s grammer rules!
(Although they sure make sense to me. It's these tidy rules that have kept me happy and sane the past many decades...)
