Normally this time of year, my farewell salutation to everyone leaving our humble abode is, "Watch out for deer. Don't swerve, just nail 'em." (Not because I hate deer, but swerving is a deadly maneuver - for the humans.)
On the way to church tonight I noticed a pod of pigs out in someone's cornfield. Free-range pigs. But I don't think they were supposed to be freely-ranging. Hogs run amok, maybe?
On our way back home, deep dusk, I reminded that Spouse o' Mine to "Watch out for pigs."
Rural Americana: I never planned for this...
