My Dad used to thumb a ride from Oklahoma State University to his hometown of Deer Creek, Oklahoma on the weekends.

I like this story. I used to pick up hitch hikers, but I'm more reluctant. I picked up some daft woman from a store parking lot recently and drove her to the bus station. I said, "You're not going to kill me, are you?"
She laughed heartily.
